From skeptic to believer
My beautiful mum has been doing my Yoga By The Beach class with me every morning for the past week. Two days ago she said to me, with a surprised tone, “I’ve never felt so good in my body”.
Helping people to understand the healing power of yoga is a huge motivation of mine. I’ve felt the effects for myself and have witnessed how it impacts others during my time teaching. But to have the person who has loved and nurtured me my whole life experience it and feel it, is incredibly special.
Mum has always been my biggest supporter but has often said “I love what you do... but it’s not really for me”. She has admitted that coming to stay with me over this Christmas break, knowing we were going to be headed off to yoga every morning, had her a little reticent, and preparing excuses…
YOGA ISN'T HARD, YOU CAN DO IT!
But just 5 days in, Mum now understands that its not ‘hard’ and that you can’t ‘do it wrong’. In fact she says now its enjoyable and simple and has been completely convinced of its value. She even is wanting me to plan her a program to continue with when she goes home!
Mum says she feels:
- Lightness of body, younger in the body
- Reduced stiffness and soreness
(she does gardening 20 - 25 hours per week)
- Improved flexibility
- And I quote “just so much better”
Quite a testimonial and you could say its biased but actually no one is more taken aback than mum herself!
I get to be a proud daughter for mum pushing through her discomfort and uncertainties and reaping the rewards of her support.
